The Server
SoloQuest is an account-based progression server tuned for solo play, without removing the corpse runs, experience loss and travel that made EverQuest an investment.
Mobs scale down with level, aggro radius is halved in dungeons, social aggro is capped at two, and every mob can be pacified.
You still lose experience when you die. You still need to retrieve your corpse. You still travel. All the things that made EQ a satisfying risk vs reward experience exist here.
Bots here can't port, rez, track or pick locks, and grouping with one costs you half your experience.
The scaling is progressive rather than flat: the higher your level, the harsher the reduction, because that's where the group assumptions in the original content bite hardest.
Bots exist for raids and corpse runs.
The experience penalty makes levelling alongside a bot deliberately inefficient. A bot is for the fight you can't otherwise win, not for the grind.
Expansions unlock per account and each one offers a choice: kill something significant, or do the work. Track where you stand in game with !prog and !prog track.
All races and classes except Iksar and Vah Shir. The level cap sits at 51 so you can settle in and grind AAs before moving on.
To unlock Kunark: kill Nagafen, Vox or Phinigel Autropos or kill twelve iconic dungeon mobs.
Iksar become available.
To unlock Velious: kill Trakanon or Venril Sathir or complete the key quests.
To unlock Luclin: kill Dain, King Tormax or Lord Yelinak or quest for every Skyshrine or Kael armour piece for your class.
Vah Shir become available.
To unlock Planes of Power: kill Emperor Ssraeshza, Thought Horror Overfiend or Grieg Veneficus or loot all ten Lucid Shards for the Vex Thal key. You must loot them from a corpse yourself for it to count.
Lost Dungeons of Norrath and Legacy of Ykesha open alongside it.
A deliberate step up in difficulty. Planar mobs notice you from twice as far, bring twice as many friends to a fight, cast for twice the damage, and resist your spells far better than anything before them.
To unlock Gates of Discord: Kill Quarm.
Work in progress.
The final expansion: Work on OoW will begin once GoD is released.
Every new character begins with the following Alternate Advancement abilities.
Opt in at level 1 with !hardcore.
<HC> in /who, and
combine with self-found as <HC/SF>.Opt in at level 1 with !selffound. Everything you use, you find yourself.
<SF> in /who, and
combine with hardcore as <HC/SF>.Reach level 65, speak to Xirion the Unending in the Plane of Knowledge, and start again at level 1 as a class you have never played. Almost everything you carried is stripped, but a floor of what you earned comes back to you.
The Remortification page has the whole system: the retention rules, every signature keep, the experience table, and why returning to a class you have already lived is free.
Two additions stand in every city and in the Plane of Knowledge.
Ask one where an item comes from and it will tell you, covering both loot drops and merchant inventories. It saves the alt-tab.
Nearly a thousand tradeskill components for sale, covering most of what you'll need to craft without hunting the pieces down first.
This is a work in progress, and it's one person building it.
If you play here, tell me what you find. Feedback, suggestions and bug reports are all genuinely wanted.
